A new report from ForceBrands breaks down how much beauty and wellness professionals across experience levels and job titles are being paid, as well what’s driving turnover in the industry.

What’s Driving Beauty Turnover?

According to ForceBrands, 29% of employee turnover is driven by dissatisfaction with compensation, while 25% is led by a lack of career opportunities.

Both figures dwarf all other factors, including work-life balance.

How Much Are Beauty Professionals Paid?

Per the ForceBrands data, 49% of C-suite and executive roles received pay increases of greater than 5% in 2024, with the largest cohort receiving increases of 6-10%.

To compare, just 24% of non-managerial workers received raises greater than 5%.

In the middle, 37% of senior managers and directors received increases greater than 5%, compared to 30% of managers.

The survey also has data on pay for those with 15-plus years of experience, including CEO pay, which can range from $325,000-425,000, while CMOs can range from $313,000-350,000.

For those with seven to 10 years and 11-plus years of experience, VP of brand pay can range from $205,000-265,000, while a VP of marketing can make $235,000-312,000.

A director of innovation, meanwhile, can range from $176,000-216,500.

Among those with five to seven years of experience, a brand manager’s pay can range from $140,500-173,000.

The data was complied from internal recruiting placements made in key regions such as New York and Los Angeles, as well as publicly available resources in the United States, per ForceBrands. The report focuses on companies with $21-50 million in revenue. See the report for the full methodology.
