5 Beauty Growth Drivers for LVMH’s First-half 2024

Beauty and Sephora overperformed in LVMH’s first-half 2024 results, even as the luxury giant cited an “uncertain geopolitical and economic environment.” That said, both the select retail and perfumes and cosmetics sectors have seen slowing organic growth.

Sephora was a highlight of the selective retailing sector, with “remarkable growth and continued to gain market share.” 

The entire retailing segment grew 3% reported, 8% organically, totaling 8,632 million euros. The segment had grown organically by 11% in Q1, compared to 5% in Q2.

Meanwhile, the perfumes and cosmetics group grew 3% reported, 6% organically, totaling 4,136 million euros. Q1 organic growth was 7%, while Q2 organic growth was 4%.

Highlights from the perfumes and cosmetics sector included:

  1. Christian Dior across all product categories, including Sauvage, J’adore, Rouge Dior and Capture Totale
  2. Guerlain fragrances, including Néroli Plein Sud in its L’Art et la Matière collection
  3. Givenchy’s L’Interdit fragrance
  4. Benefit’s expanded Precisely, My Brow collection
  5. Fenty Beauty’s hair care and China market expansions
