OneSkin’s Big Move
First up, kudos to OneSkin, the longevity-focused skin care brand that wrapped up a Series A funding round in November 2024—bringing their total funding to a cool $20 million. Investors like Selva Ventures, PLUS Capital, Unilever Ventures, and more are betting big on the brand’s mission to extend skin health and vitality. With this kind of backing, it’s clear the future of skin care is looking… well, younger!
NAD+: The Star Ingredient
If you’ve been keeping an eye on the ingredient trends, you’ve probably noticed NAD+ popping up everywhere—and for good reason. Euromonitor’s data revealed a surge in beauty products touting NAD+ claims, jumping from just 100 in 2022 to nearly 500 by August 2024. Why? NAD+ is linked to energy production and cellular repair—basically, the holy grail of anti-aging. If you’re not already exploring how NAD+ fits into your product line, now’s the time to start.
Genes, Berries and Longevity
Speaking of science … at the 2024 SCC annual meeting, Christophe Toumit from Greentech highlighted two longevity genes—SIRT6 and FOXO3—that are over-expressed in centenarians. These genes are like the superheroes of cellular detox and autophagy. Inspired by this, Greentech developed an active ingredient derived from Schisandra chinensis (aka magnolia berries), targeting longevity hallmarks.
L’Oréal’s Tech Revolution
And let’s not forget L’Oréal Groupe. They’re bringing sci-fi-level tech to beauty with their new Cell BioPrint lab-on-a-chip device, which debuted at CES 2025. This portable gadget analyzes biomarkers to predict future aging signs (think potential dark spots) and even estimates your skin’s biological age. Imagine being able to forecast skin’s longevity and tailor products to specific needs—game. changer.
The Bigger Picture: Biohacking & Rejuvenation
Longevity isn’t just about products; it’s a full-on movement. Mintel recently noted that combining holistic wellness with cutting-edge tech is opening up massive opportunities. From exosomes for hair and skin rejuvenation to cellular-level innovations, beauty is no longer just about looking good—it’s about living better, longer.
What Does This Mean for You?
For beauty professionals and marketers, the message is clear: the future of skin care is rooted in longevity. Consumers want more than quick fixes—they’re looking for science-backed solutions to target aging at its source. Whether it’s diving into the world of NAD+, exploring new active ingredients, or leveraging tech like L’Oréal’s BioPrint, now is the time to innovate.
So, are you ready to ride the longevity wave? The opportunities are endless, and the future of beauty has never looked brighter—or healthier. Your customers (and their skin) will thank you for it.

🧪Putting Longevity Insights Into Action
Morley Willoughby, Ph.D., a senior scientist within advanced research at L’Oréal USA research and innovation, is set to present “Beauty’s Long Game: The R&D Case for Longevity” as part of Beauty Accelerate 2025.
While “anti-aging” claims aren’t going away any time soon, longevity presents a new, holistic, technically advanced front in beauty innovation.
As Mintel reported earlier this year, “Brands can tap into this longevity-driven market by combining holistic wellness concepts with technological advancements. Advances in longevity research have led to innovations in biohacking and cellular rejuvenation, targeting the root causes of aging.”
These advances can further concepts like “slow aging” and “embracing healthy and natural beauty without denigrating the ageing process,” the firm noted.
Mintel concluded, “[T]he next level of anti-aging will involve addressing specific longevity factors like inflammation, oxidative stress and DNA damage. This is a cue for brands to explore biomimetic ingredients and personalized solutions based on individual skin needs.”
Willoughby is ideally situated to take on the topic of this revolution.
Prior to joining L’Oréal, he completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University Medical School in the Department of Genetics, specializing in the fields of longevity and cellular senescence.
Specifically, he leveraged cutting edge single-cell and spatial-multi OMICS sequencing technologies to investigate cellular senescence as a contributing member of the NIH Senescence Network Initiative.
Previously, Willoughby received his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in Cell Biology, with multiple published peer-reviewed articles in epithelial biology and wound healing.
